What a Typical Monday looks like in my house

What a typical Monday looks like in our house.

We usually eat blueberry pancakes

On a typical Monday and most days you will find me making either crepes or pancakes. (different verities of course) Emma and I both love them.

Goldfish

I turned to clean her tray from breakfast and hear this ‘whosh’ sound…oh no. As I walk into the living room I see Emma has emptied the ENTIRE box of Goldfish crackers. hehe Life is too short to get mad over things like this. I took some pictures and we learned how to clean up.

Emma snuggling

Emma is a snuggler, most of the time. She loves, and  I mean loves, Chloe. And Chloe likes her, but I think that’s because Emma feeds her human food- just a hypothesis. Anyhoo, I was looking on Facebook in the morning and looked up to find this. How cute! (notice the pancake still in her hands) I didn’t remember to turn on the flash though- my bad.

Attack of Chloe

I can never ever get on the computer and not have Chloe want to all of a sudden snuggle with me.  It makes it impossible to type. She can’t be comfortable with me typing and moving- but there she stays. Sweet stubborn thing.

They like to snuggle with eachother

Emma

Any time I take photos of the cats, Emma comes up and fake smiles wanting me to take some of her…I love that about her. That’s about it. I didn’t take any photos of last night, but I went to a friends house to watch MNF and Trav stayed home and chilled with Emma. Have a great Tuesday.

Pumpkin Patch

For some reason I thought that as a child grew up, it would be easier to take pictures of them. Nobody told me that, I just came with it on my own. Maybe next year it will be easier.

We went to the pumpkin patch for a friend’s birthday (London’s 2!) and of course I jumped at the idea of taking fall pictures. They turned out…great of Trav and Emma, but just OK with me and her. I do believe I have the cutest child there is and proof of it was today. She was so adorable it hurt. We unfortunately didn’t get to bring home pumpkins, because their ATM was broken and they only took cash…so yeah: Safeway here we come. Enjoy the pictures. All in all it was a nice sunny, cold, windy fall day. I’m making homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner. Yum.

She of course HAD to have her goldfish.

OK all together...'awwwww'

Daddy and Emma

Me and Emma- I have a thing for flowers on hats and scalloped edges.

See what I mean?! Trav and Emma are adorable and us…well by the time it was my turn she was more than ready to go.

Emma ready to go-she hit her wall

And finally the dirty wheel barrel cart thing. She absolutely LOVED it. She loved pushing things in it, playing in it and having daddy push her in it. When we left she threw a fair tantrum because we had to leave it behind. (*Good Christmas present, family members-hint, hint)

I am uploading some new pictures onto my webpage and thought I would also share them here. I like going to people’s blogs and just look at pretty things sometimes. Not very deep or life changing, but nice and makes me smile. (isn’t that better than medicine anyways?!)

It’s so easy for me to compare my pieces to others…and that always makes me feel discouraged. I just realized though, I like classy simple pieces. Sure, I’ll make a funky item once in a while, but people (including myself) wear pieces/sets that go with many outfits. Simple lines and classic looks…never run out of style. I think that my jewelry fits that. So, I am now a little more comfortable in my own skin as an artist. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow. 😉

So Emma went to th doctor yesterday and she is up to the 5%! (better than the 2% a couple weeks ago) that means that out of 100 children her age she would be the 5th from the shortest. I am happy to see her gain weight and grow. I am also having a fun time with some new clothes I bought for her. Here is a picture taken Thursday in front of our church. Can you say adorable?!

Springwater Trail

Today a friend and I went for a walk. It was a nice sunny cool fall day and the trail was busy. I learned this afternoon just how OUT of shape I’m in. We walked maybe 1 hr all together and my hips are sore like I’ve been speed walking miles! Emma had it good, just sitting there looking cute while someone pushed her. Lucky. There were quite a few fuzzy caterpillars out also and I hope they crossed the trail without getting stepped on…here are some picts-enjoy.

We also went and walked in a neighborhood and, I promise you right here and now, all of the mailboxes shown are all on one short street. Seriously. I thought it was so creative and fun to see people personalize their boxes. It must be fun being the mail man, seeing different boxes each day. Do you have a street where people decorate parts of their houses?

What the?

I typically do not write two posts in a night. But tonight was no normal night. It started by me getting into my attractive comfy PJ’s. There is nothing better than fleece on a cold night…nothing. So here I was relaxing…don’t you wish you were me here?! (Don’t worry, you won’t in a sec.)

Relaxin' and you can only do this best when you have unmatched socks

I was snuggly in bed loving the warmth of my blankets when I hear a cat meow. ‘Crap’ I think. Because I can tell what kind of meow that is. That is my cat Chloe downstairs wanting me to play with her and her stupid basketball. I ignore her thinking she’ll just have to suck it up and realize it’s way late and to just give up. Stubborn is her middle name. She gets me so annoyed and it’s impossible for Trav or I to sleep so I go downstairs and find this letter:

to mom

from chloe

i know you can hear me. i want you to get out of your nice warm snuggly bed and play with me. i am first, you are second. you haven’t played with me in a long time anyways, and you keep hiding my balls everywhere. but one day i will learn how to open drawers and i’ll get them all. GET OUT OF BED! i know you can hear me and you’re ignoring me. just for that, i’ll sleep on your face tonight and suffocate you or maybe i’ll wake emma up really really early. yeah…i know you heard me- get down here! …oh good here you come.

xoxo me

~So what did I, her annoyed and tired mom, do? I smiled, and took pictures thinking of you bloggers. I thought you would enjoy this. I actually think I pissed her off even more by not playing with her then hiding the dumb ball. Enjoy the pictures…hehehe

Chloe and her stupid basketball

The flash was annoying her

Finally, now throw that ball so I can fetch it

And the winner is…

The winner is Sabina!!! YAHOO! Congratulations, I can’t wait to send this to you in Nowy Targ-! I’m sure your niece will just love walking around with her bling. 🙂

Pretty close up

This past Sunday we went to our small group and some friends came back from Guatemala and they gave coffee as gifts. Wonderful friends but crap, I never bring back presents for people…I’m feel guilty now. ..The coffee should be good, I looked it up (because it has a website where you can continue buying from them, how nice of them to think for us)  Travis wants to keep it for special occasions- how cute. 🙂 All I know is, it came in a bright cheerful bag and it made my night. I now get to think about what I could keep in the bag…hmmm.

It's pretty huh...it smells good too.

Onion Rings

I have noticed a trend in my making and baking…it all seems to be unhealthy. Unfortunately this post isn’t any better. Instead of being super sweet it’s super greasy. But it was really tasty! Yes, as you can tell from the title of this post, I made onion rings for dinner last night. (link is a similar recipe. I didn’t follow any but fooled around in the kitchen and made my own kinda) I was really nervous because I was making them with red onions. Would they turn out and taste as good as yellow onions? Yes! They didn’t look like a bloomin onion or anything, but they were great! And super fast and always a favorite with me. One red onion made about 15 onion rings. I apologize for the pictures- not my best or favorite. I am still learning how to take pictures at night and use all the different options my camera has. It doesn’t help that I’m not a fan of the flash either. Hope you can make them- kids would enjoy helping you.

Yesterday Emma and I went to the park to enjoy the falling leaves and cooler weather. It was nice to get out of the house and not have to drive anywhere. Below are also some photos of our time there. Enjoy!

You have to have it with ketchup of course!

A close up...yikes....still figuring out the lighting situation in my kitchen

She's so darn cute!

Emma and I- she has striking blue eyes

And lastly my favorite. I love black and whites

Emma and Dora

Yesterday was of course, full and busy. There always seems to be a day where we aren’t resting…hmmm. Not OK. Anyhoo, while Trav was at church early because of vocal rehearsals (he’s on worship team) Emma and I went to a birthday party. Emma was adorable but was overwhelmed. After a while she wanted me to pick her up and she pointed to the door saying ‘Car, Car..’ Awww my little introvert- I love her. Here are some pictures of the party.

So adorable

Emma and her dora hat- she has no idea who dora is, but she's cute non the less.

Her sippy was her familiar object she really clung onto the whole time. I think we were there 1 1/2 hrs total

Fast forward to today. Today is Monday. Monday is Alexis’ day. I do not make anything extra special (ie. chocolate cakes, granola, cookies, trail mix, etc) I do not make plans with friends. I lounge and do whatever I want. One day a week is enough for me. 🙂 I did make crepes for breakfast and enjoyed them. We’ve had a nice relaxing day…and I think the next relaxing day might be…next Monday. *sigh. I think blogging helps me during the hard days and helps me have a positive attitude with our crazy schedule. I am always thinking about what good pictures I could take to blog about. Right now, I’m obsessed with canning…oh and a friend and I are making berry jam Wednesday. I really hope it turns out OK.

Another subject…kinda…Travis LOVES apple pie (it’s OK to me, I prefer cherry) so I am wanting to make and can apple pie filling. Just buy a box of apples and that makes about 8 huge pints of filling! That’s 8 PIES! So in January, all I’ll need to do is make a crust, pour and bake. That is my kind of baking. Enjoy your Monday.

Chocolate Cake

List of words Emma says: cat, kitty, dog, chair, car, no, dada and ball. Notice how mama isn’t on the list. Yeah, she knows me by mama and if anyone tells her to come to mama she runs to me. But she just doesn’t say it-stubborn little thing.

Friday I made a chocolate cake. But not just any chocolate cake, it’s called ‘The Best Chocolate Cake Ever’. This is hard for me because I don’t like chocolate. Yes, you read that right, I just don’t like the flavor. Anyhoo, everyone else really liked it and had big pieces. You can go here to find the recipe. It’s NOT from scratch, so it is possible to quickly make this for a dinner party like I did. I made the butter cream frosting from this blog. Enjoy the pictures.

There is half a cake left over and I won’t eat it. (my chocolate comes in the form of tortilla chips) We need to have people over to eat it fast! Check out my giveaway! Tuesday is the deadline- all you have to do is comment! It’s that easy!!

I'm not a big fan of icing so I added it sparingly.

I’m horrible at icing. Really bad, so this is the only picture I will give you showing the cake as a whole. I messed up the icing- like really bad. So even though it tasted really good, it was messy to look at.

I handed out pieces twice the size of this and they were eaten quickly. They said they liked how moist it was.

Care for a bite?

Cinnamon Roll Biscuits

I am SO excited to write this because not only was this fun, easy and quick…but there are 5 other blogging girlfriends making the same thing this morning! I am so interested in how they all turned out and all the variations that were made.

I woke up at 7:30 am- 30 min late, so to say I was in a rush is an understatement. But these are a fool proof recipe and even has the flexibility to be tweeked. Here is the recipe. I didn’t use 1 1/2 C heavy cream, but split whole milk and the cream. My pictures didn’t turn out as good as hers… but I think it took 3-5 min to make and 30 min to bake. Yeah, that simple.  They do have a biscuit like consistency, which I preferred to a normal cinnamon roll. They’re usually SO super sweet and these weren’t. Which I was in danger of eating too many. I added raisins to the icing and when Trav asked what they were, I told him they were bugs. (Man, I’m ready for a little boy 😉 ) We had a men’s small group at our house this morning and they all really liked them! Enjoy the pictures! Oh and check out the other girls who did this cinnamon roll bake this morning! They have great blogs! Melissa, Carolina, Charis, Becky and Amy.

(*don’t forget to comment for my giveaway! You have till Tuesday!)

Sorry about the lighting. But they were so pretty!

Served warm and yummy. Emma only cared about eating the raisins-silly girl

It's worth making them-promise
