Mom,

These next few posts are for you. I could thank you for the millions of ways you were the greatest mom. But for today: I wanted to thank you for growing me up showing what fierce love looks like.

Today in women’s group we were asked to share one special memory with our mom we had growing up. I instantly had one that is at the core of who I am thanks to you.

For my turn, I proudly shared that my memory was a continuous action of love showed by you. Growing up, when I had bad/scary/spiritual dreams, you were ALWAYS there. Showing me your love and fierce protection. You not only settled my fears but showed me how to pray and taught me how much God would never leave me-showed through you. I constantly remember, in all the different houses we lived in, falling asleep hearing you pray for me.

I remember you spending hours with me, in the wee hours, sacrificing your much needed rest and putting me first. Never complaining, telling me not to worry about it or telling me to go to bed. It is such a tender and special memory to me that influenced who I am and has bled into another generation-to Emma. Your example molded the way I parent and what it means to be there for Emma.

Because of you, Emma is the benefactor of what you sowed in me as a baby. ich liebe dich mutti!

The first book club hat

OK, so here is the first hat for the book club. I have a friend who will wear it because the hat I’m making for myself is a little more…adventurous. 🙂 You remember how it started out:

13843433772.jpgI really wanted to make a tutorial but I had no plan. Just sorta did it as I went with what I had.

Can I just say that I love ruffles, the dollar store and my hot glue gun.

13843484970.jpgOK, of to spray paint my hat purple 🙂 And I actually like this hat plain…might take all the stuff off and spray paint it a color I like, like cream.

~ What do you think of the hat?

Bring on the hats, sweet tea and jewelry. This spring will be sweet!

My mood has been reflecting the weather outside the past few days. It’s sunny and cheerful.  (Thanks God)

*brace yourself*

I have even felt the energy and motivation to clean the entire house, do ALL the laundry AND swap the clothes in the closet from winter to spring. Hallelujah.

The creative bug has also bit me and yesterday I made many necklaces and a handful of earrings. Including these two beauties.

Book club is this Friday and we are bringing hats to wear, like the royal wedding. The only catch (and beautiful challenge) is that we have to make them. Yes! What fun! Here is the starting product I bought at Goodwill today.

Red is not what I expected to buy but it has potential. 🙂

Random:

Oma: At home Emma saw a Starbucks stopper laying on the ground and she yelled, “Oh no! Oma forgot one!” 🙂 I think it’s great she associates you with Starbucks paraphernalia.

Even though I am not a chocolate lover, or even ‘liker’ doesn’t mean I am not a sugar-aholic. I had a sweet tea and lemon square together. Oh my goodness. I don’t want to imagine or calculate how many grams of sugar I consumed in that 10 min span…but it was SO GOOD! Try it, I’m sure you will love it. 🙂

(McDonald’s had the sweet tea and Starbucks had the lemon square. – so all you friends in Poland can share in my heaven today too!)

Movie night!

Tonight we are having a friend come over and having movie night- while Trav is away on business. We’re having Jane Austen over. I like her. A lot.

sunshine on such a happy day

13809696303.jpg

We had a great family day in the sunshine. Walking, park, picnic and frozen yogurt.

Plus too much T.V.

13809427975.jpgBook club this Friday and I’m excited. I’m bringing cinnamon sugar croissants, strawberry tart and crumpets. We read Sense & Sensibility. British theme. 🙂

*****************************************

In  a more somber subject I am still processing the death of Bin Laden. I can’t say that feelings of relief aren’t here…but I am also sad. He was just a human. He murdered countless people in the name of hate. Horrible, unimaginable and something I don’t want to even try to wrap my mind around. With that said, I can’t help but feel like we are all celebrating the death of a man that was the spiritual pawn of a certain time. Jesus saw him as he was dying and still accepted him. Jesus chose to love, not celebrate with the completion of revenge.

People are people. Sad, ‘unfair’, horrible things happen that boggle my mind and disgust me. Children slaughtered, families broken apart and people murdered horrendously. For whatever plans Bin Laden had that is now ruined I am more happy that I can express. I am very happy though for the closure this is bringing to so many around the world.

Sickie

Friday.

It’s a day to snuggle  with my sickie little girl (double ear infection which spread to her eye) and watch Pride & Prejudice. I have to start her young. It’s a responsibility I am willing to perform. 🙂

It’s a day to make scones for the first time. (thanks to a wonderful friend who came all the way over just to give me 2 cups of milk! Thanks Amy/AJ! It meant so much to me!)

13759970612.jpg

It’s a day to enjoy the BEAUTIFUL flowers 2 friends gave me! It was so surprising and made me feel super special! I feel SO loved!

13760193190.jpg

Today Travis is coming home! Yay!

It’s a day to read/watch the coverage of a certain wedding that happened early this morning. Is it silly to say that I know she and I would be good friends?… or does that sound a little stalker-ish?

It’s a day to drink coffee, snuggle and finish my book club book.

DSC_0269.JPGThe creative juices are starting to flow too! I’m getting pumped to get back into making    things with my hands. 🙂

Mothers day gift anyone?

I have a set of teacups/saucers I am selling. I just have too many. But before I sell them to a stranger, I thought of all you loyal readers/friends and wanted to give you first dibs.

13734942547.jpg

Can you say Mother’s Day? 🙂  If they like red and white of course. I hand painted everything.

You can choose to only buy one set or two if you like. I’m a flexible person. For one set: $8       Two: $15 Three: $20 Four: $23

If you want to buy just the cups let me know and I will be happy to work with you.

*Gift wrapping is optional. Shipping is free. 🙂

Tea cups/saucers for sale. 4 of each. The saucers are slightly different but if you don’t mind a little eclectic-ness then consider it.

13733922382.jpgThe tea cups are my favorite. Very feminine.

13734479206.jpgIt is important to know one plate is chipped.  It fell on the ground. I was very sad but since I thought they were for me it didn’t bother me as bad. Still interested? The chip is very minor.

13734284775.jpgI am a little bit of a tea cup snob.I hate it if the handle gets too hot to drink. Why even own the cup? All that to tell you the tea cup handles are not affected by hot liquids.

Well, let me know!

Cookie Pizza

13723355950.jpg

Simple. Just make your favorite cookie dough and press it into a cookie sheet. Top with   your favorite treats and bake for 30min-ish.  I had to add the pretzels for salty-ness. 🙂 Enjoy!
