‘up too late but can’t turn my brain off’ thoughts

Planning on making this. Will you come over and help me eat it? I seriously have a problem with baking things, but really, is it so horrible? I prefer to say I am always prepared to have guests over- it sounds so much better.

But seriously, apple butter smells SO good, why don’t they have perfume in that scent?! I would totally buy it….and would probably get caught smelling myself in our elevator and feel embarrassed. Then be known as the girl who smells herself…it could be worse. I’m not a cat lady. *cough* MOM *cough*  (oh yes I did)

I’m obsessed with turquoise right now but you wouldn’t know it looking around my home. Must change that. Spray paint anyone?

Who’s daughter practices her vulcan mind grip on her mommy? MINE DOES!

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE HER.

I’ve had some of you ask for my Swedish Meatball recipe. Here it is!

14085034888.jpgIn a crock pot, dump 2 cans of Cream of Mushroom with 4 shakes of the garlic salt. Then add 1 T of the chicken bouillon.

Take out your whisk and mix in what might feel like a bit too much milk. When you’re there add the frozen meatballs. I’m sorry but I forgot to measure the amount of milk, I do my dinner recipes by feel.

Turn your beautiful, wonderful, hardworking crock pot on low for about 3-4 hours. I stir mine every so often.

(my watched pots DO boil)

I honestly had about an hour to make mine so I turned mine on high for 1 hr. Tasted great. Just combine with brown rice and the main course is done.

I need to do yoga stretches more I think. My back is tight. Either that or Travis needs to pay for massages. I prefer the latter.

Even better, (Aunt Donna) : I need to go to a warm Texan beach with the women in my family and think of nothing but smelling apple butter, I mean coco butter and drinking cold lemonades. Ahhhhh.

Night friends, that is what I’ll pray I dream of tonight. Hope you get good sleep too.

natural beauty

Remember what my ‘herb garden’ looked like back in April? Just in case you don’t:

seedlings growing

Well…..my ‘herb garden’ is finally producing! SO SUPER EXCITED! We have Basil, chives and Dill. Yay, the ones I use the most. 🙂 Thank you Dollar store.

It’s pretty cool cause Emma is learning all about growth plus she’s getting really excited to start cutting and eating. 🙂 Me too!

Speaking of Emma…

14084049196.jpgJust felt like showing some of the beauty I’m around. Beautiful growing sweet smelling plants, my Emma and this beautiful sunset I saw tonight. 🙂 (no editing done)

DSC_0436.JPG~What beautiful things are around you?

Bring on the hats, sweet tea and jewelry. This spring will be sweet!

My mood has been reflecting the weather outside the past few days. It’s sunny and cheerful.  (Thanks God)

*brace yourself*

I have even felt the energy and motivation to clean the entire house, do ALL the laundry AND swap the clothes in the closet from winter to spring. Hallelujah.

The creative bug has also bit me and yesterday I made many necklaces and a handful of earrings. Including these two beauties.

Book club is this Friday and we are bringing hats to wear, like the royal wedding. The only catch (and beautiful challenge) is that we have to make them. Yes! What fun! Here is the starting product I bought at Goodwill today.

Red is not what I expected to buy but it has potential. 🙂

Random:

Oma: At home Emma saw a Starbucks stopper laying on the ground and she yelled, “Oh no! Oma forgot one!” 🙂 I think it’s great she associates you with Starbucks paraphernalia.

Even though I am not a chocolate lover, or even ‘liker’ doesn’t mean I am not a sugar-aholic. I had a sweet tea and lemon square together. Oh my goodness. I don’t want to imagine or calculate how many grams of sugar I consumed in that 10 min span…but it was SO GOOD! Try it, I’m sure you will love it. 🙂

(McDonald’s had the sweet tea and Starbucks had the lemon square. – so all you friends in Poland can share in my heaven today too!)

Easter 2010

I had a hankering to make sugar cookies to our Easter celebration and didn’t have much time OR butter around. So after looking online a bit I just used Pioneer Woman’s recipe. No butter needed.

easter cookiesI think they turned out OK. I’m not a real ‘sweet treats’ person but I liked what flavor the lemon zest gave it. I would love to tell you I wanted to do this to have a fun activity for Emma or to bring smiles to others. But that would be a lie. I honestly just felt like decorating something.

I did tell you a bit ago that I was planning on making the Polish Easter cake. Still planning on it. Again- don’t have the butter but will later in the week.

Here is Emma’s outfit. She chose it out. It reminded her of Rapunzel and her purple dress.

Emma's Easter outfitWell, I hope you have a nice Monday.

God gave us a gift today. ‘Us’ being people living in Portland. THE SUNSHINE!!!

(I follow lots of bloggers who live in California and I daily work at not being jealous. Is it a fruitless battle?)

Anyhoo, we see the beautiful sun today. No qualms there, us girls went on an ice cream date to celebrate the power of Vitamin D.

(picture taken on phone)

Emma was all about her ‘rainbow’ ice cream (sherbet), myself- bubble gum with the pink florescent square pieces mixed in. Makes Travis gross out but there is something nostalgic about that horribly fake flavor.

I had a dream last night Travis asked me where I wanted to vacation next and I said California. Warm. Beach. Near by-ish. New cities. Sun. Sonic. Beach towels.

I’m praying it was a dream given to me by God. Amen.

Food Coloring

Belle Birthday Cake

Whoever created and invented food coloring made my weekend. Emma’s cake is nothing but white cake and whipped white icing. But thanks to them, Emma was ecstatic over her Belle Princess cake.

The stand is a beautiful Polish pie dish upside down on top of a candle holder.  Try and not look at Belle’s googly eyes. They’re hypnotic.

13459865866.jpg

The girls loved it and it was amazingly great, especially since it’s just a white cake. The inside was pink. Brilliant pink. Which the little princesses didn’t eat-they focused on the icing. Such good 3 year olds. 🙂

Belle Princess CakeI’m sure this whole post has gotten a certain someone annoyed all these pictures are portrait. Didn’t mean to but I certainly recognized a pattern in how I take pictures.

REACH Polska

I blogged here today. Talked about Emma’s preschool possibility and how God has guided us along the way. Check it out! 🙂

ps. and yes, birthday pictures will be posted as soon as they are edited.

Getting over this morning

DSC_0150.JPG

I failed today. This morning I was trying to hurry my 3 yr old (which is an oxymoron) and to make a long drawn out story short- I lost my patience. I raised my voice. There were punishments for her attitude/choices which just made me feel more stressed.

And all for an appointment that NEVER HAPPENED! If I had taken the 10 seconds it takes to check my phone I would have seen the text. But no, I hurried my Emma to church, which she started to cry as I dropped her off. That never happens. Usually she never looks back to say bye. Hard morning.

I drove to this appointment (which, again, had been canceled- argh!) feeling horrible. And as I was talking to God about it all, I was realizing that I was justifying my actions because of her attitude and choices. How mature. Let’s compare ourselves to a pre-schooler!

I then asked myself why I was feeling horrible, and I realized that my actions this morning was not out of love, but out of frustration, impatience and stress. I did a lot of reacting. Not much thinking. I actually felt a lot better after identifying my feelings and the action steps after was not too hard to come up with.

When I picked  Emma up (who hugged me so tight it hurt my heart), I took her to a quiet secluded place and recounted this morning to her. I told her I was sorry for yelling and my attitude was not good. I said that Jesus and I talked and I apologized to her. She smiled and said she forgave me. Then we kissed and hugged.

We also have snuggled a lot today. Both of us wanting to heal the hurt that was this morning.

So that’s how I’m doing today. You?

Tuesday

Today is a day for dipping pretzels into Nutella. It’s a day for drinking hot tea that almost burns my tongue.

It’s a day to be thankful for the amazing man God put into my life.

None

It’s a day of me praying to God, ‘pleeeeease let Emma take a nap!’ (Right now she’s been in her bed for 1 hr. ugh guess it will be an early bedtime)

It’s a day for Emma to learn her shapes and focus on the letter E.

It’s a day that will end in pj’s, slippers and tutus. Homemade chocolate chip pancakes. Lots of syrup. Peanut butter. And eggs on the side.

None

What does your Tuesday look like?

my not so good, very bad day

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
hello everyone. i thought i would be the guest author today and bring everyone up to date on how i’m doing. basically i’m doing a lot better. like 100% better, but mommy still wants to have this day be chill so i don’t ‘over do’ myself.
yesterday was horrible for me. i was spinning in the kitchen and watching mom singing the ABC’s on mommy’s cell phone when i lost my balance and fell down. i then was hot, tired and threw up a grand total of 5 times yesterday. i slept, rested and vegged the entire day.
DSC_0242.JPG
mommy and daddy got a little worried and called the doctor but they said things were ok and that it was nothing serious. i am just super sensitive to spinning things and get extreme cases of motion sickness. lucky me.
but today is different. like totally. for breakfast i told my mommy that i NEEDED chocolate and ice cream because i’m still needing to get better. she laughed (how rude!) and instead we compromised on a waffle with nutella.
this is a picture of me being married. i told mom ‘i am married’ and she didn’t laugh like i thought she would. her eyes got huge and a worried look came over her face. she asked me where i learned that and told me i was too young to pretend being a bride. i think i totally freaked her out. (the power!!! muahaha!)
he then started to smile and said not to move so she could take  my picture. i posed. i’m beautiful.
there has not been any throw up (which i don’t like to do even though i get attention) and my hot flashed have left me. i’m starving today and really thirsty. mommy is super relieved.
the end.
