Emma’a new haircut

It seems that with Emma’s new haircut she also has a new strongwill. The complient ‘whatever you say mama’ has fled out the window and now I have what feels like a preschooler.

Example: Trav and I were driving back to Portland from the holidays and as I was helping her from the front seat she said, ‘No mama. Don’t look at me’ and swished her head to the window. I laughed as Trav and I gave each other looks. I’m fine to give her her space and respect that but I’ve also found that time outs and making her go to bed early does nothing. She relishes in her alone time. Crap. Time to find something else so I can have some kind of leverage.

Another fun story: She wanted to watch ANOTHER movie and I had the nerve to tell her no. Her response: *crossed her arms. ‘But MOM! I NEEEEED TO!!!’ Chuckle, sorry kiddo. There is more to life than the television.

One thing that I really make an effort on though is never telling others about her choices to not listen to me in front of her. I want her to think and know that I am her biggest fan! I don’t want her to hear me tell others how she didn’t listen to me. My job is to have her hear me brag about her to others about how awesome she is and her quirky straight forward independent personality. After all, I did pray for those characteristics, I won’t whine about my prayers being answered.

Bath time

this is emma again, coming to you live from the bath tub. which in itself is one of the happiest places in the world which can rival disneyland. just the thought of bath time brings a light to my eyes and i will do anything mom asks. clean up. throw things away. make dinner. i really am amazing.

my aunt jamie is here and she is so super fun to watch me in the tub. she plays with me and she loves to pretend. which i’m an expert in. in my observation adults loose their imaginations as they age. a horrible way to live. no wonder peter pan went to neverland. anyhoo….

here is jamie posing and wishing she wasn’t getting her picture taken. hehe i like power.

Nonebut jamie is only so much fun. no offense jamie but my toys will do whatever i say. they love me and i’m their master. here is my mommy pony. she loves her babies. and she loves to swim.

Noneisn’t she beautiful. my mommy did her hair. i love it. and finally here i am. cheeese!

Some days

Some days are ‘look outside’ days. Rainy cold days. When you don’t have the energy to want to put on boots and splash outside. When I don’t want to bake another stinkin cake. That’s when I take out my frozen mini-cakes and heat them up with a hot drink. And Emma likes to put on her party/princess dress and walk around looking outside.

It almost feels like a dream. Or the place where you are almost dreaming but not quite.

NoneSnuggles with a clean fresh smelling blanket is the best.  (we went to a tea party at her friends house, thus the flower)

Being a kid on these days can be frustrating. Emma was in a snuggly mood (thanks God!) then fell asleep on my knee cause it’s comfy. (apparently mine is) I take pictures and say, ‘aww’  then put her to bed.

Donut World

I remember my dad and mom bringing donuts to Sunday school. They were my teachers in a couple grades. They were smart- the way to a pre-teen and teenager is through their stomach. Today, they have fancy dancy donut places that I only read about and am dying to try but sadly there are no fancy donut places near me.

Instead, we went to a huge red barn looking building that has a mega sign outside reading DONUT WORLD. Classy my people. Classy. They had the fake wooden siding, limited red vinal seating and cramped bathrooms. HOWEVER, they hand make their own donuts (you can watch the guy-which the girls liked) the most sweetest owner (yes I talked to him), cartons of milk, HUGE donuts the size of my head and honestly the best nostalgic feeling place. They had old pictures of Portland and it just made me smile. I just felt like I did when I would go with dad to pick up the donutsfor our Sunday class. Sweet memories.

Only it was 10am and the most liked donuts were gone. But there’s no way I’m waking up this little lady to pick up a few donuts. Hah. Unless we are driving to an airport, we’ll pick some up on the way. Yum. Hot fresh donuts. Great healthy breakfast.

My friend, Amy, and I went to Donut World with our girls. They got a little impatient waiting for me to fumble with the camera to take a picture of their donut they couldn’t eat. Hah. It’s not like they’re 2 yrs old with a treat in front of them.

Emma and Rylee (Emma’s best friend) had to have sprinkles. 🙂

Why do parents have the most boring donuts? I was looking forward to tryng some interesting ones but there were only traditonal ones. No Bacon Maple bars or Salted Apple donuts. Oh well. The girls didn’t notice.

Here’s Amy and Rylee. We’ll so miss them while they’re away! Her husband and her are looking into being missionaries to a country and are visiting this next couple weeks. Rylee is visiting Grandpa and Grandma in L.A.

And finally the after. Not much icing was left but a lot of the donut was. 😉

It seemed like the girls felt the sugar like imediatly! They were boinking off the walls! Here are some action shots 🙂

Then they crashed. Hahaha

Posing for pictures is sometimes hard. But not that much with her. 🙂 Recently it’s been hard to blog- our lap top has decided to freak out and is threatening to melt itself. Yeah.

Linking to Emily!

Pumpkin patch…kinda

OK, so we tried to go to the pumpkin patch with it’s amazing pony and carnival rides but with only an hour till closing as we walked up- they wanted to charge is $82 buckaroos!!! I was like…’forget this!’ and everyone else was debating it. hah. They actually wanted to charge little Emma $17 to go in0- adult price!

So instead we went to their pumpkin patch but didn’t buy anything. They have a separate patch where it’s mostly picked over. We were there only for pictures though so with that mindset we  were ok. Well most of us. Emma didn’t get that memo.

Poor Grammy!

Once we got to the patch and pumpkins she started crying and telling the scarecrows to ‘go away!’ She was scared of them 🙁 But I was so proud that she used her words!

None

This was the best we could get of Gramps, Grammy and Emma. She wasn’t going for picture time. But thank goodness Gramps acts silly around Emma! We were able to get a great family shot!

None

Love her hat. I got it from a friend and I added the buttons. 🙂

And finally, Emma was into a smile phase for 3 min and I just so happen to be holding her.

I know 3 posts in a day is crazy but our computer wasn’t working yesterday and so I had to wait to do a couple posts. This one however is for Thursdays only. Check out Emily, a mom who “host a little weekly challenge that dares moms to get out from behind the lens…and in front of it, with their munchkins (or spouses, or friends…etc.) our kids will thank you for it one day…when they have oodles and oodles of pictures with you and them in it.”

I so agree with what she says about this and so…here’s our post!

Baby leash backpacks

This picture is an ‘I’m sorry for not posting any pictures in the last couple posts’ picture. I know that many of you have wained and wondered whether or not to follow this blog at all if there’ll be no pictures.

But rest asured. I’m performace driven so you will get what you want! Pictures! hehehe

Don’t you just love baby backpacks that act as leashes. Emma loves it and I’m so glad for that. She’s gotten into the ‘I’ll run away from you if you call my name’ stage. It is horrible in places like malls, the zoo or Safeway. Yes. She’s done it at all of those places. Fun. Not.

I think one thing that has passed down from me to her is the love of mirrors. I’ve snuck up on her singing and kissing the mirror. Hey, I don’t kiss the mirror. I’m grown up and mature now. Now I just swirl. 🙂
