I know it’s been a while since posting. But we’re back and unpacked (I hate unpacking a car), laundry in the process of being cleaned and tonight is our first night just ‘us’. We’re excited to say the least. But I wanted to post some adventures, well more like excursions, we took while in Seattle with family. Last weeks Tuesday Treats was a blast. (If you have no idea what I’m talking about check out Emma’s blog at the side of my screen)
My mom, Emma and I went to Baskin Robins. Finally she could enjoy an ice cream treat with her granddaughter! (She’s been graciously sending me gift coupons so Emma can gorge out on ice cream this summer)
If you know me a little bit, you know I love all things cutsie. (new blog title? hmmm.) Well I didn’t fall far from the tree. My mom is way more creative than me and loves themed parties, gift baskets and whatever else. So, for our outing she bought Emma an ice cream outfit! There is a tank top with a double scoop, but since it was about 65’F, we opted for a turtleneck. It is supper cute, I hope you can see it in the pictures. If not, take my word for it. Emma’s favorite ice cream? Snickers. Mine?…the free kind
Mora
Our outing today was nice and warm-surprisingly. My mom, Emma and I went to get pizza, go on a ferry ride and then get ice cream. Right now Emma is crazy tired ans is zonked out in bed. Lucky. What I wouldn’t give to take a warm nap with cozy blankets around me…*sigh
But, I am blogging and since I love that I’m satisfied.
I have to first say that we went to the best ice cream place EVER. Not only were the employees sweet but the sorbet was to die for. I had raspberry and my mom had Lemon Sorbet. AMAZING. Look them up here. They ship too and have gift cards! 🙂
Frodo
We have been having a great time here. Shopping, eating and watching movies with the family. Overall it’s great. However, sprinkled in between those times are weird images and thoughts. OK, so last night as I was in bed, I closed my eyes and saw horrible/evil faces pop up. Freaky. I opened my eyes up and asked Travis if that ever happened to him. “No” was his response. Great.
But, after some praying they went away. Now, I don’t mean for this to sound ‘preachy’ at all. I want to be understood that I respect you and your experiences. All I have to go off of are my experiences. So my beliefs are based off some of those. Well, those and the bible. Anyhoo, I was amazed that those scary (and they were freaky) faces was not some mask I saw early in the day or from a scary movie. They were faces I have never seen before but they were in my mind. How frustrating!
I know there is an enemy and that he will do everything in his power to hurt, confuse or scare me into thinking that I am nothing but a little skinny 5’4 girly girl who is afraid of Star Trek. (the Star Trek part is true- some of the older episodes. Hehe)
But what I DO know is that I am more than that. The best way I can compare it to is me with a different shadow. There’s me that you see and laugh with. But there is also my shadow-a part of me not easily seen. I know that I have a calling on my life to be a warrior for God and that it will touch and greatly encourage others around me.
And when I see those faces, I know it is an example of how scared I make the enemy.
A also have to admit that I have a love affair with being someone from Lord of the Rings. A fighter and one that brings devastation to my enemies. But no. I realized that I have a different calling than one I ‘romantically’ like. I feel I am called more to be a Sam. I cry every time I see his love and devotion to Frodo.

Today’s Zoo Trip
~Today was overcast and cloudy. Lovely in my opinion. We went to the Seattle zoo today and it was cool. Not too busy and I wasn’t forced to push little kids out of my…or I mean Emma’s way. 🙂 Here are some pictures. Enjoy.
Some of my favorite flowers. I think they’re just soft and girly. They make me smile and I think we should all have things around us that make us smile. For me it’s flowers and sparkly things.
Ferry’s and McDonald’s
Update
Yes, I am alive and we are having fun. It is super late and I’m half asleep typing this. Glad the hot weather is done and enjoying our family around us. A longer post will follow, and tons of pictures are being taken. 🙂
Adventures in Portland
Today was the day I took my sister back to Seattle via the Portland Train station. The drive there had no…interesting turn of events, however once we entered the absolutely gorgeous station, that is when we were caught in the webs of chaos. Well, I’m sounding dramatic- which is more fun- there basically wasn’t any attendant to take our luggage. (their luggage was too big to carry on) So, about 10 people were literally ‘denied’ admittance onto the train! My sister being one. But it was only because nobody would take their bags- crazy! But we stayed chill and went to change the ticket to tomorrow morning, costing $8, and then back home.
Wrong turns were my best friend and confusion was my middle name. I have gone home so many times from there but never got lost. Today I have no excuses. One interesting event that I got to capture on film was our huge Burnside Bridge. It was raised for a boat, and thinking that it looked weird to see a road point to the sky, I took a picture. After crossing the bridge, I took more wrong turns, got lost about 3 more times but was able to show Jamie all around the funky neighborhood of Hawthorn.
We arrived and Emma and Jamie promptly went straight to bed. I wonder if there are any connections between toddlers and teenagers…hehe. Won’t go there although I’m SO tempted…
enjoy the pictures.
The Burnside Bridge. Looks odd to me like this, so I took a picture.
This was our lunch, a BLT on sourdough…
which I’ve decided I don’t like sourdough bread…
it tastes sour.
And the winner is……..
Randomness
It’s Thursday and that means that the contest is over! Sorry for those of you who are coming here today, I’ll give away something bigger next time. But today my sister is going to go through ALL the entries and pick one- a hard job. Tomorrow the winner will be announced! So make sure to come by and see if your name will be in BOLD!
Monday, I was at Safeway buying the only thing that would save me on a hot 107` F Portland day- ice cream. While in the check out lane, there was a chatty man who talked to the whole line about his plans of making yummy chocolate ice cream out of the heavy cream he was buying. My mouth started to water at that point. He also had homemade Ratatouille in the oven AND they had spent all day pressing and filling ravioli’s. OK, people this was ALL FROM SCRATCH! I was impressed to say the least and was almost tempted to think of what I could make from scratch that night. Almost. Stepping out into the heat wall that greeted me was a reminder that all things cold and fast was on our menu for this week.
If I couldn’t be creative in the kitchen at least I could be somewhat creative with my camera. So below are some photos of random things around my house. First because I think you will like them, and secondly because it is a crime to post a blog entry without pictures.
