Random Update

So tonight we are having our small group Christmas party and I’m excited! I was/am in charge of the desserts and they are turning out great. Our house is trimmed and our tree is great. It’s a little big, but better big than small. Emma though has a cough and I’m praying for it to go away. Other than that…nothing new in our lives. Well, Trav started his new job two days ago and I think it will turn out great. He hasn’t talked much about it but that is usually a good sign- no news is good news.
Right now, I’m sitting on our couch wishing I was with our European friends…sigh. I miss you:
Kerstin, Robyn, Laura, Katie and Sabina. I’m looking forward to the whiter Christmas’s we’ll be having in Poland. 🙂 Merry Christmas!

Christmas…where did you go?

I am one of those people who begin listening to “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” in August. Sick I know. I am also a person who dreams of extra hot non-fat gingerbread lattes. Yum…I anticipate the holiday season and all it’s crystaly charm that comes with it. I always pray for a white Christmas and instead of giving them to me- He’s sending me to it. (Poland) Through all this, Christmas is here and for some reason it doesn’t ‘feel’ like the holiday season. I feel like I got ‘jipped‘. It doesn’t help that it as sunny yesterday and that it’s not that cold either. It might help if I take out all the decorations and make our home festive.
We’re having a Christmas party at our house this Sunday and I’m really excited. Good friends, good food and great Christmas carols. 🙂 Oh, did I mention our amazing tree this year? I’ll have to be sure to post some pictures.

Super Mom? Me? Well OK.

OK so yeah I feel a little smug today.

I cleaned our home from top to bottom.
Packed the car for our trip to Grandma’s
house, laundry (and if you know me-I hate laundry), cleaned up BOTH of Emma’s blow-outs, set up my Etsy account, did e-mails, vacuumed, cleaned the dishes, packed my grandparent’s Christmas presents, dusted and even made a snack for the ride to Seattle tonight. I cleaned the litter box, played with Emma and had a girl-friend over. I did the garbage, took out Emma’s cloth diapers and oh yeah- took a 20-30 min. shower.
*You may applaud now.

Thank You

I thought I would make cards for girlfriends to let
them know how much I appreciate them. Tis the season.
I got inspired by a blog, I can’t find now, and so here is the product.
I stayed up till midnight doing them. I think they
turned out really well. I made them for specific people in
mind too. Friends are the perfect muses.
Enjoy!

Changes

Thought that I would update this for the 2 of you who visit this. 🙂 I am debating whether or not to also do my devotions on this or to start a new one where all my girl friends can put up their postings. That way, when we’re in Poland- I can still do devo’s with my friends and get their perspective on the same passages.
I am also going to post some creative stuff on this blog too. It’s going to morph into a weird mis-match of topics- but it’ll resemble my likes and dislikes. Hope you like the changes.

Elections

I do not like election season and I believe it is because of the commercials. Well, those and the random people ringing my door bell giving me flyer’s and those cardboard names stuck on the side of the highway. I have to go now but I just wanted to say that I would vote for the person who didn’t back stab their opponent and who actually tells the truth.
* sigh

This Morning

Alright, so the trip over was wonderful. I will always ask to stay an extra night in Frankfurt then fly to Portland- awesome. OK, so as I said before everything went well- we even made friends with a flight attendant. Really nice woman who was 3 months pregnant, so we had some things to talk about. Emma slept and slept. God was so kind to me and all the people on board the plane. After we arrived at the airport, we took the MAX to pick up our car at Eastside Church and then drove home. We did all of nothing. Hung out, I dusted, gave Emma a bath, did 2 loads of laundry (yuck!) and watched a movie. Trav had a shower and was ready for sleep- but it was only 2 pm! None the less, Travis and Emma fell asleep half way into the movie but it was good- Becoming Jane– and then around 5pm I took Emma to her bed, and tucked myself into mine. Travis rolled himself in sometime later. At 9pm Emma woke up- then at 11pm she woke up again- 1am woke up- 2am woke up, and finally at 2:30am I gave up on having her sleep. So I took her downstairs, made some pancakes, lit a few candles and listened to jazz music on the radio. It is 3:50am right now and Emma is happily chewing on a coaster and I have about 7 pancakes for Trav when he gets up.
I think I’m going to do some creative writing after this. I haven’t had the opportunity since not having a laptop. But since my mom got me one- let the creative-ness flow!

Oh and I’m SO looking forward to 4 things this week.
1. Get my hair cut!
2. Find an unbelievably irresistible outfit for Emma for Halloween pictures this year.
3. Go grocery shopping! My cupboards are empty.
4. Decide on a day to go pumpkin picking- I LOVE Autumn.

We’re back

We got back home ok and Emma did amazing! We’re trying to stay up now though so we’re watching a movie. More to come 🙂
