Too many beach pictures!

You have been warned…We went to the beach this last weekend. Here are some pictures. It was a fun weekend with friends, annoying whistling toys and lots of food. Took too many pictures and will now have to go through tons, and keep only a few. Hate that.

I’m busy hanging out with my sister while she’s in town, love it when she’s here.

My Weekend Give Away!

It’s been FOREVER since my last give away and I thought something summery would do the trick. I didn’t want to spend any money because I’m a cheap skate. So after looking through different things in my creative part of the house, and figuring out that I might have to mail it I decided on jewelry. What a shock.

But enough with the griping. Who wants to win this hot summery set?! The earrings are made with fresh water pearls and the red stones…I think are a type of onyx. But don’t quote me on that. Aren’t they pretty? I made the bracelet stretchy so you don’t have to worry about clasps, I’m into stretchy bracelets right now. It’s all about if your daughter gets a hold of it will she brake it or just stretch it. Stretch it please, oh stretch it. Remember to click on it for a bigger prettier picture.

Rules: simple just comment ON MY BLOG. You don’t have to have a blog to comment. Just comment, and on Sunday night (when we will be getting back from the beach- whoop whoop!) I will go to random.org and it will chose it for me. Only one comment per person. 😉 Thought you’d be sneaky on me huh…

Cherry Vanilla Granola

I love giving gifts. It’s how I show love. And it doesn’t really matter what it is. Gifts in any form go straight to the heart. I wanted to show some friends who I don’t get together that much that I love them even though we might not be able to have our coffee/Olive Garden lunch dates.

I decided to make Cherry Vanilla Granola. It’s just oats, cinnamon, dried cherries and sugar. Heat in the oven till crunchy. But one secret is that it will get crunchier while it cools. Take that into consideration. I added a stamped piece of card stock saying, ‘Thoughts of You’. Think about those around you who might be encouraged by a little lovin’ today. Enjoy!

Spontaneous Tuesday Night Get-together

Last night we had some friends over. It was spontaneous and I realized how much I missed just having people over and hanging. We need to do it more. I have some friends ask me what I make or serve for those times. Basically whatever I have in the house. I did go out to the store testerday and buy puffed pastry. Everything else I had in my cupboard.

Fetta cheese, Kalamata Olives, Green Greek olives stuffed with Garlic cloves, Green olives stuffed with Blue Cheese (Safeway, olive counter. I just bought a combination bag $7), Asian Cream Cheese Spread with Crackers, Fruit tarts (strawberry, peach and blueberries) and finally chocolate galore (people keep giving us chocolate-please stop!).

And our wonderful friends. Brandon, Becky and Amelia. 🙂

On a different note, we’re gong to the beach this weekend and I’m really looking forward to it. My sister is coming to help watch Emma for the weekend. Thank you Jamie! Really looking forward to that. 🙂

Jamie Graduating

This last weekend we were in Seattle for my sisters graduation from high school. It was eerie being back in a huge gymnasium with cap and gowns. To think…10 years ago this month I was also walking down and receiving my diploma. So much has changed.

In any case it was awesome to see Jamie walk down and get hers and see her with all her friends. She is so grown up it’s freaking me out. lol I actually had tears in my eyes as I watched her…then Emma began freaking out and my sentimental moment was gone. Emma was desiring to walk around and explore. Totally 2 yrs old thing to do, not conducive to a QUIET graduation. Oh well. It went great and Jamie was the star of the whole night. Here are some shots.

Friendship Appreciation

I am finding myself more emotional as our time here draws to an end. I am all kinds of feelings. This last Thrusday I started to cry because I was struck by all the amazing young people we were around and how much I would miss them. I know it surprised them but after I explained my emotionalism they understood. I think.

With all theses feelings I was surprised by a question that crept up. Did any of it matter? We have poured into many people here and I feel like those relationships have now changed. Depressing. We have tried to follow up and maintain a friendship, but it seems like a lost cause. Busi-ness is the most common explanation. And I totally take responsibility of those friendships too. I had times when I didn’t give to those around me and let it dry up.

I can’t but feel left out. Feeling left out of their life. Invisible. I know this is exactly what being a missionary will be like oversees but it doesn’t make the feelings go away. Feeling them here is just as painful as it will be anywhere….just verbally throwing up on you…you poor unexpected reader. Like most people, not just missionaries, I would like to know if what I gave people meant anything. Feeling loved and appreciated is normal but showing others you love them is not common. Sad.

Pineapple Chicken Quesadilla’s & Vanilla Blueberries

Saw this recipe on the internet somewhere and I was sold. No pictures needed. Why hadn’t I thought of this before?! It’s an AMAZING mix, Mexican and Hawaiian. It’s a beautiful thing. I’m still trying to figure out how to make the pictures bigger. It is possible, just need time with Trav to see how to do it.

Enjoy your Wednesday with some pineapple and blueberries!

Recipe:

OK, so this is NOTHING special. Just make your favorite quesadilla and add pineapple. I just had cheese, salsa, chicken and pineapple on corn tortillas. Yummmm. I’m a simple gal…well in some areas. 😉

The blueberries is just the berries with sugar and vanilla flavoring. Emma, who doesn’t eat them a whole lot, ate tons. I will ALWAYS add vanilla to all my fruit.

Oh, click on the picture to see it close up, you especially want to do this on the blueberries. Wow, and with NO PHOTO EDITING! I love my new camera…
