Crazy Ridiculous

Crazy Ridiculous is the only way I can describe how I’m feeling after going grocery shopping. As written in older posts, I have $60 for 2 weeks. Impossible? Read the old posts. I went to the dollar tree to get boring things like Foil and Sandwich Baggies. Spent $15. I then went to a grocery store chain called, ‘Grocery Outlet’. Crazy. I got all the food below for 24!!! That’s TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS! (and no the expiration dates are all good) Most of the things I bought were certified organic (different from only ‘organic’ foods). I also bought things I would not normally buy…like 4 lbs of frozen peaches, bag of spinach & artichoke chips, 5lbs whole wheat flour and a bottle of pure lemon extract. We seriously need people to come over so I can make dinners.

But people, I’m in heaven because I have nearly HALF of my budget left to only buy Chocolate Chips and T.P. You better believe I’m either splurging in the meat isle or I’m taking myself to get a peti or mani. 🙂

Anyone want to come over? I get to cook with all this now!

Boring-meal plan

Is this getting boring for any of you? It certainly is for me. Writing cute little adventures is sure more fun than writing our meal plan. None the less I have to do it because if I don’t, come 5 o’clock I will be either asking Travis to go out to eat or I’ll be freaking out because ‘We have no food!’. OK, here it is people. Again, I don’t expect you to read this. 🙂

So, here is a picture of Travis and I this last weekend. It’s in my dad’s house. There I feel better. I mean….what is a blog post without a picture?!!

The past 3 days

The past 3 days have been crazy. Being in Duvall visiting Trav’s parents, going to a square dance in a barn ( Yes! And it was SO much fun!), biking a meer18 MILES!!!!!, arriving home at 11:30pm (H.o.r.r.i.b.l.e. with a capital H) and having a friend over for dinner last night. All ok, just packed full. So, the pictures migh tbe all a bit pushed together. But here it goes:

The barn dance was crazy fun! There were white Christmas lights everywhere, AMAZING FOOD and even a professional Hall-er (lingo for professional square dance/line dance person). It was the birthday of a past friend of Travis’. She was turning 60 and it was so cool to see her dance with her black cowboy hat and boots! I hope I am that lively when I’m 60. The food was incredible. Shrimp, filled puff pastries, wrapped asparagus, as much fruit as you can eat, cake and of course brie.  Brie people! I picked out as many raspberries as I could and scarfed (and I mean scarfed) on the brie. *sigh, it was so good… This was MY kind of how-down! Anyhoo, it was fun and I got pictures of it.

This was only half one table! Do you see the huge chunks of Brie?!!!

Out of all the food- I stuffed my mouth full of as much brie as I could

Trying to be creative with the camera

I made homemade tortilla chips last night with my beef enchiladas and they were so good! Pictures of course. 😉 I didn’t put salt on them because I’m married to a healthy person. He’s trying to conform me but I like salty food too much.

Flour Tortillas Chips

The chips were great and super duper crazy easy to make. (healthy=no , yummy=yes!) Just cut triangles from corn/flour tortillas. Heat some oil in a sm/med pan and dip them in. Flip when one side is golden brown. I like mine a little too brown for most people, so picture shows that. You can make yours however you want.

I’ve been wanting to watermark my photos for sometime now. And just recently I was reading a friends blog (very cute) and because of a story she linked, it pushed me into actually doing it. Sometimes fear…cautiousness is a good motivator. So here is what my new photos will look like. Nothing too different but I was trying to try a couple different kinds of pictures to make sure it didn’t look too dorky. Enjoy 🙂

(Read past post to understand what I’m talking about)

OK, so we see tons of people standing in line and it totally feels like the day after Thanksgiving. Most are women with children in strollers, slings or backpacks. Most are members and are waiting for the free things the Zoo is ‘promoting’. So we split up while she goes to ask questions- she’s a good communicator…a.and I’m good at saving spots. lol. OK, so we stand in one of the three lines and shuffle our way through the entrance. But oh no, people are still racing and shoving their way to the Africa area with the new lions and cheetahs. We hurried there too to wait in yet another line (and get free bags and paper fliers*sigh) and finally enter the exhibit. (it wasn’t that bad, and I saw only one mom bite another to get ahead of her) (;) )

The lions were surprised to see people ( they have been getting used to their new home in peace) so they were really curious about the weird creatures that keep taking pictures of them and the little kids who looked like lunch.  My favorite were the cheetahs. They were so beautiful and sleek. I hope they have a lot of room to race around in. Well, that’s it! Enjoy the pictures and I’ll see you on Monday. (we’re in Seattle cause Trav’s high school youth group has a reunion)

Morning Adventures with Alexis

What you are about to read is the actual turn of events as they happened:

Waking up at 6:30am is brutal. I know I can’t complain, but jeesh! I have a lot of respect for Trav and everyone else who wakes up before 7:30am. Unfortunately we woke up at 6:30am and rushed to get dressed, eat breakfast (most important meal of the day people!) and leave the house by 7am. Oh, did I mention it was ALL 3 of us? Yeah, we rock. Anyways, we drove downtown, dropped Trav off at work and I ventured onward to the zoo with visions of Cheetahs in my mind. We arrived at 7:55am and it didn’t open till 8am, so perfect timing!….but wait a minute…no body’s here…hmmm. My friend and I were the ONLY people there. That’s strange. At that moment we looked up at the reader and saw in bright red letters, “OPEN 9-6pm”  Oh holy crap. Good thing we hurried to get here on time or woke up at the butt crack of dawn. Of course we have our daughters all strapped in their strollers and both of us look at each other and busted up laughing. What else could you do right?!

So we decided to go on a little morning adventure. We took the MAX (light rail for the Portland metro) into downtown Portland. It was SO beautiful! The sun was shining, the girls were content with being strapped into their strollers and we had no idea where we were going. It was GREAT fun for me! We didn’t EXACTLY buy tickets but looked like mindless mommies and anyways, if the transit police stopped us we would just sound apologetic and ask for forgiveness. 🙂 Horrible I know. Anyhoo, we stopped at a random stop and strolled until we found a random, and quite fancy, donut shop. All I have to say is, ‘Yum, yum, yum!’ Emma, of course wanted nothing to do with my delish raspberry filled donut and wanted to just walk around. It was so relaxing and cool. Of course I took pictures!  Food is a favorite of mine to photograph. When we were finished we jumped on the train (took a new one on the way back and boy are they nice!), talked about scary spider stories and arrived at the zoo to find about 200 mommies and their whinny toddlers waiting to enter the zoo! Yeah. Crap. Did we get in? You’ll just have to wait and see. 🙂 I’ll post part 2 tomorrow. Enjoy the pictures!

Hmmm, suspisious...

So pretty- and only $.90

Beautiful huh

We are such posers, hehe

Millions of mommies and babies

Nothing special

Tomorrow we are going to the zoo. But it ‘s not just any zoo trip- it’s the grand opening of the African predators! I’m excited to see the cheetahs, but not as much as the lions. Sounds kinda snobby, but I prefer the cheetahs. It’s just a me thing. The fun part is that we and another mom with her little princess will be there at 8am when the doors open! Apparently they are expecting tons of people so we’re going to be one of the first to be there. I mean, people will get out of the way for cute little girly girls and crazy moms pushing strollers- right?  That means leaving our house around 7am, which means waking up and eating breakfast at like…too early. But I can be sure Emma will take her nap at least. 🙂

Secondly, and least importantly, I have become addicted to this lotion from Bath and Body Works. My mom gave me a set for my birthday and I use tons everyday. (yes, I know you’re reading this mom, and I give you full credit) I’ll be sure to ask for some more for Christmas. You should try it if you like cherries. It smells amazing. Promise.

I lied

OK, I lied. I admit it early on. I told you I wouldn’t take any pictures today, my birthday and I lied. I did take pictures. I was doing a great job of restraining myself, but for some reason my camera was in my purse today and while Trav, Emma and I were at a cafe I thought I’d take a couple adorable photos of Emma (in her pig tails! Yes!) and then that night when a large group of us went to a favorite restaurant (Roadhouse), I also snapped a shot of the dessert I shared with a friend. It was so massive and delish. *sigh, I love hot fudge and WAY worth the $5 price. I also took a photo of their Southwestern Egg Rolls- the main and only reason I chose this place for dinner and dessert. Have a great night and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Today is my Birthday!

Today is my birthday! Yay to me. 🙂 I’m about to go to lunch with a really good friend and enjoy the Olive Garden’s never ending pasta bowl. Yum, you know I think pasta must be a staple food in heaven. 😉 Anyhoo, I’m not taking any pictures or anything today. I’m more or less just enjoying today. I’m visiting friends, eating out and watching girly movies while Emma naps. I thought I would send you some photos of yesterday. I must say that I patted myself on the back because I colored Emma’s face. She looks so cute! I can’t wait for Halloween! I’ll blog tomorrow. Happy September 9th!
